All Aboard Ohio offers a limited number of unpaid, remote internships for students and emerging professionals eager to gain hands-on experience in communications, public policy, or nonprofit operations. Our interns don’t just observe - they contribute meaningfully to statewide advocacy, build real-world skills, and grow their professional networks. These internships are eligible for academic credit or capstone project alignment, depending on your institution's requirements. Whether you're looking to sharpen your writing, dive into policy research, or learn the ins and outs of nonprofit management, we provide mentorship, flexibility, and a chance to help shape the future of public transportation in Ohio.
AVAILABLE INTERNSHIPS
Communications/Marketing
The Communications/Marketing Intern will help shape how All Aboard Ohio tells its story across digital platforms. This role involves creating and scheduling social media content, drafting blog posts and newsletters, and supporting media outreach and branding efforts. Ideal for strong writers and visual storytellers, this internship offers the chance to build a professional portfolio while contributing to real-world advocacy. Interns will work closely with staff and board members to deliver engaging content that strengthens public awareness and support for passenger rail.
Policy
The Policy Intern will support All Aboard Ohio’s advocacy efforts by researching transportation policy, tracking legislation, and preparing materials for decision-makers and the public. This role is ideal for students with an interest in public policy, political science, or urban planning. Interns will analyze current issues, draft summaries, and contribute to coalition-building campaigns, gaining experience at the intersection of policy, transportation, and community impact. Opportunities to engage with public officials and advocacy leaders are a key part of this internship.
Nonprofit Operations
The Nonprofit Operations Intern will assist with the behind-the-scenes functions that keep All Aboard Ohio running - from event planning and fundraising to internal communications and donor outreach. This role is a great fit for those interested in nonprofit management, administration, or development. Interns will gain hands-on experience supporting campaigns, maintaining records, and assisting with grants or board activities. The internship offers a close-up view of how mission-driven organizations operate and grow their impact.
