Statehouse Advocacy Researcher

Position Summary:

All Aboard Ohio is seeking two Volunteer Statehouse Advocacy Researchers to strengthen the research behind our

legislative and policy advocacy. These volunteers will work closely with AAO's Advocacy Committee to investigate

transportation policy, funding mechanisms, legislative history, and comparative state models to help AAO make the

case for passenger rail and public transit at the Ohio Statehouse.


Key Responsibilities:

● Research individual legislators' policy priorities, committee assignments, and legislative track record to

inform AAO's outreach and relationship-building

● Research how other states have structured successful passenger rail and transit funding or policy, and

identify lessons applicable to Ohio

● Help identify and build a list of key contacts in state and local government relevant to AAO's advocacy

priorities

● Track bills, committee activity, and budget items moving through the Ohio General Assembly

● Compile briefing memos and talking points to support testimony, lobbying visits, and coalition meetings

● Collaborate with the Advocacy Committee to identify emerging research needs


Preferred Qualifications:

● Interest in state government, public policy, or transportation advocacy

● Comfortable doing online research and writing clear summaries

● Self-starter who can manage their own time
