Public Engagement Process Researcher

Position Summary:
All Aboard Ohio is seeking a Volunteer Public Engagement Process Researcher to monitor local and state
government processes and identify opportunities for AAO members to participate — public comment periods,
hearings, board meetings, and other formal decision points that affect transportation policy in Ohio. This role works
closely with AAO's Volunteer Coordinator and communications team to make sure members know about these
opportunities in time to act.
Key Responsibilities:
● Monitor local, regional, and state government bodies (city councils, MPOs, transit boards, ODOT, the Ohio
General Assembly, etc.) for upcoming public comment periods and hearings
● Track submission deadlines, meeting dates, and participation requirements for relevant processes
● Summarize opportunities in a format AAO staff and chapter leaders can quickly act on
● Flag time-sensitive opportunities early enough for AAO to mobilize members
● Work with the Volunteer Coordinator and communications team to make sure members are aware of
upcoming opportunities
● Maintain a running calendar or tracker of engagement opportunities across the state
Preferred Qualifications:
● Interest in local/state government, civic participation, or public policy
● Comfortable navigating government websites and public notices
● Organized and reliable with deadlines
