Location: Remote (Ohio-based applicants preferred)

Type: Part-Time Volunteer

Industry: Policy & Advocacy

Position Summary:

All Aboard Ohio is seeking a Volunteer Public Engagement Process Researcher to monitor local and state

government processes and identify opportunities for AAO members to participate — public comment periods,

hearings, board meetings, and other formal decision points that affect transportation policy in Ohio. This role works

closely with AAO's Volunteer Coordinator and communications team to make sure members know about these

opportunities in time to act.

Key Responsibilities:

● Monitor local, regional, and state government bodies (city councils, MPOs, transit boards, ODOT, the Ohio

General Assembly, etc.) for upcoming public comment periods and hearings

● Track submission deadlines, meeting dates, and participation requirements for relevant processes

● Summarize opportunities in a format AAO staff and chapter leaders can quickly act on

● Flag time-sensitive opportunities early enough for AAO to mobilize members

● Work with the Volunteer Coordinator and communications team to make sure members are aware of

upcoming opportunities

● Maintain a running calendar or tracker of engagement opportunities across the state

Preferred Qualifications:

● Interest in local/state government, civic participation, or public policy

● Comfortable navigating government websites and public notices

● Organized and reliable with deadlines

What You'll Gain:

● A working understanding of how public comment and civic participation actually shape transportation

decisions in Ohio

● Direct connection between your research and real advocacy turnout

● Collaboration with AAO's statewide network of chapters and volunteers

● Recognition for helping power a statewide advocacy operation
