About the event
Amtrak would like to restore service to the downtown Elyria station, which is now the Lorain County Transportation and Community Center. Built by the New York Central as a passenger rail station in 1925, Lorain county restored the building about 15 years ago and centralized intercity bus travel and local transit to this location. Amtrak has budgeted funding towards returning its local passenger rail stop to the location, although more funding will need to be secured for the project to happen. (Amtrak currently uses a less convenient location with no amenities a half mile to the east.) Join All Aboard Ohio's northeast chapter for a visit to this beautiful facility for a discussion about the station project and potential Amtrak service expansions in northeast Ohio.
